Dear Art Friend

Welcome to shoot # 56 – A gateway
The photo above is a digital gift – a moment of joy or reflection – to you from Oberg PhotoGraphics.

A special welcome to many new subscribers and social media and other friends – here is the preceding shoot.

shoot aims to stimulate art curiosity and share positive stuff. It’s a gateway to the online “flip” GlobalArt Magazine, the blog I write as an art recommender, not art critic.

shoot wings into your mailbox now and then. Sometimes I also shoot just a single image your way – exclusively for shoot recipients.

I believe in global networking, sharing and in positive energy. Please share with me if you have news and views.

New editions including one of Mark Rothko
Oberg PhotoGraphics’ homepage has changed to become more easy to navigate. Several new works uploaded, see Recent Editions. I’m proud of them all.

Perhaps especially the one above “Mark Rothko At Tate Modern”. It’s a small expression of my boundless fascination with Rothko’s work.
I wanted to create a print of his work which itself appears “rothko-esque”. It may look simple but it isn’t.

Digression: Who said photography must look like photography? It can also look like this:

Events – Art Evening & “Photolution”
Autumn is a busy time of the year. First the Cultural Night in Lund in September and now, on October 15, the Art Evening – Oberg PhotoGraphics being one of 23 Lund galleries and museums keeping the door open until 11 pm: Photos on the walls, photo books and other (peace) books and 2 small lectures about what I call the “photolution.”

It’s the only cohabitation of a peace research foundation and an art photo studio and does so in a homelike manner!

Welcome!

Iran Collages
The Transnational Foundation’s and my work with and in Iran continues, for dialogue and people-to-people understanding. It includes peace research, meetings and – of course – photography.

There are a couple of new collages at Iran photos here. Iran a truly amazing civilization of its own. Go there and you’ll be touched by the welcoming attitude of its people and it’s amazing cultural creativity.

Shall Venice die?

Italian Venezia is sinking and being destroyed by over-tourism: 20 million per year in a city of 56,000 inhabitants whose number has fallen dramatically the last few years.

Can you imagine the world without Venezia? I can’t, but it is a realistic scenario. I’ve written a bit about this tragedy on my art blog inspired by art historian Salvatore Settis’ recent wake-up call with his new book, If Venice Dies. I forward modest ideas about what can perhaps be done to stop this slow death, world attention to it being one.

But where is the EU in this? Where is the world beyond the market and profit-making? Venice is about a world heritage, not just Venice or Europe.

No, Venezia must not die! A space in my studio is devoted to this issue, including my dear friend and mentor Viggo Rivad’s (1922-2016) Venice photo book.
